About Doc Scantlin & His Imperial Palms Orchestra
Doc Scantlin and His Imperial Palms Orchestra is a twenty one member musical review consisting of fifteen musicians, it’s band leader, Doc Scantlin, chanteuse Chou Chou, and an ensemble of four singing dancers affectionately refered to as "The Girlfriends." The show recreates the glamour and excitement of an American nightclub in the ’20′s, ’30′s, and ’40′s.
Created in 1983 by Doc Scantlin, the band has performed at countless prestigious events internationally, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Ball, the wedding of Marie Chantal to Prince Pavlos of Greece, the weddings of both Aerin and Jane Lauder, Ronald Reagan’s 80th birthday celebration, Cartier’s 125th Anniversary Gala at the Museum of Modern Art, the dedication of the World War II and Air Force National Memorials, the Centennial Celebration of the New York Public Library, numerous inaugural events and concert performances for people of all ages. The orchestra performed yearly as the featured entertainment at New York’s famous Rainbow Room’s legendary New Year’s Eve Celebration, as well as performing regularly at their own supper club events in Washington, D.C.
Doc and Chou Chou also perform with six musicians in their new act, “Doc Scantlin’s Palmettos”, and smaller configurations of the Imperial Palms is available upon request.
Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra and Doc Scantlin’s Palmettos are proudly presented through Chou Chou Productions, LLC.
Doc Scantlin & His Imperial Palms Orchestra
Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra is renowned as one of the most authentic and entertaining big band orchestras available, providing music for dancing as well as a full costumed show. The band includes Doc, Chou Chou, 15 musicians, and the four singing/dancing “Girlfriends”. Information on smaller configurations is available on request.
Doc Scantlin’s Palmettos
Doc Scantlin’s Palmettos is an alternative scaled down version of Doc Scantlin’s Orchestra. Doc, Chou Chou, and six musicians perform the best music from 1920′s through pre-rock 1960′s, in their signature, well loved, entertainment style. The Palmettos recreate the golden age of the American night club, suitable for swing dances, gala events, concerts, festivals, or jazz club listening. The Palmettos includes many of Doc Scantlin’s Imperial Palms Orchestra’s favorite songs and more, adding a jivier, mid century feel, true to it’s “jazz combo” size.
